Try Modesto JC, they have classes for kids your age, get one of their booklets with the classes I think they may even have one in the summer.

I read somewhere that you are allowed to as long as they are non-credit courses and hours should not be more than 18 hours per week. The course I’m looking at is 5 days, 5 hours per day, which would be equal to 25 hours. But it only lasts a week (5 days). Is this acceptable on a tourist visa?

Depending on how in depth you want to get, I would look into it online. If you can look online (between about.com and youtube.com) you can probably find videos to show you how to dowel, bake, set, and decorate the cakes simply. If you want something in depth and complicated, I would take the class. If it’s someone’s wedding cake, they are always going to have pictures of it so you want something classic.
